Career Progression

Develop and deliver undergraduate and graduate courses in social justice, critical theory, programming, event management, legal issues, gender and race relations along with kinesiology, sport, and recreation. Collaborate and participate extensively in service to the department, college, university, and community by serving on departmental and university committees, actively channelling energy and skills toward social justice goals on campus and beyond.

§ Interim department head of Women and Gender Studies. Responsible for the operations and necessary approvals of financial claims and policy management. First contact for student management of academic and non-academic issues. 

§  Developed and launched the Man Up Against Violence Movement. Extensive work coordinating and collaborating with students culminating in a week-long series of events in October in conjunction with the Provincial Violence Prevention Week.

§  Secured over $30,000 in funding for the MUAV launch, and renewed funding for subsequent years, from sources including the University of Regina Presidents Office, Office of the Status of Women, Ministry of Social Services, University of Regina Women’s Centre, individual departments and faculties and more.

§  Secured $82,500 to conduct a campus-wide Needs Assessment Report and Climate Survey to develop recommendations leading to the creation of a comprehensive sexual assault and violence prevention action plan.

§  Developed and implemented a new and significantly challenging “Diversity Issues in Kinesiology, Health, Sport and Recreation” class grounded in critical theory. The delivery of this class was a non-traditional collaborative platform. Through high levels of interest and engagement, achieved a 90% attendance rate and an unprecedented level of engagement.

§  Planned, developed, and taught over 15 different classes online and face-to-to face covering subjects such as diversity issues, program delivery, governance, legal issues.

§  Converted numerous courses to an online format to increase accessibility, monitoring and addressing common glitches and unforeseen issues to create a smooth learning process.

Provide strategic leadership and planning for education and awareness in efforts to prevent Gendered Violence.  Develop and implement policies, practices, and procedures to ensure the University has effective support, prevention, and education strategies that are responsive to students, staff and faculty. Support complementary programs that encourage diversity, equity and inclusion on campus. Report to the Provost.

Program Delivery

§  Oversee the continued growth and development of the Man Up Against Violence program to engage all levels of the University and community in the philosophy of healthy masculinities and reduced violence. Current negotiations for MUAV partnerships with University of Knoxville, TN, and Algonquin College.

§  Negotiated partnership and memorandum of understanding with Touchwood File Hills Qu’Appelle tribal council to allow for delivery of Walk the Good Road, a program developed to address intergenerational cycles of violence experienced by First Nations peoples.

§  Ongoing collaboration and partnership building with University of Regina Indigenization Office, Aboriginal Student Centre, UofR International Office, UR Pride and Campus for All program.

§  Deliver programs and lectures on campus, across the country, and beyond. Annually invited presenter and webinar host for the International Campus Law Enforcement Association (IACLEA), invited presenter and Chair for Ryley Conference Group, presentations to Provincial and Federal Status of Women along with Federal Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

§  Member and Co-Coordinator of inter-governmental and stakeholder negotiations for planning around a Provincial Strategy to address Domestic and Interpersonal Violence in Saskatchewan.

§  Established and achieved a consistent Provincially Proclaimed Violence Prevention Week in Saskatchewan to coordinate with Man Up Against Violence (MUAV) week on campus.

Policy & Planning

§  Work with the Provost to establish a multi-year Strategic Plan, implementing and evaluating processes to advance polices and programs to counter issues of gendered violence, racism and to foster inclusive and equitable learning and working environments.

§  Review, rewrite, and update campus sexual assault and violence policy to ensure a seamless, survivor-centred, fair, and equitable process for reporting and investigating gendered violence, supporting survivors, and setting accountability standards for perpetrators of gendered violence.

§  Facilitate and coordinate a fully indigenized program to address racism and interpersonal violence involving community, faculty and staff.

§  Research best practices in primary prevention of gendered violence, and racism in order to apply an intersectional, transformational survivor-centred approach.

Relationship Management

§  Establish, maintain and strengthen relationships with internal and external clients, partners and stakeholders such as community organizations, and support services, which are responsive, collaborative, and engaging.

§  Advise senior leadership, Deans, staff, faculty, and students on issues of gendered violence, racism, accessibility, and related matters including human rights, diversity, inclusion, and equity; represent the university locally and nationally on matters related to these social justice imperatives.

§  Assess current and future staffing needs for management of gendered violence and establish human resource and employment equity strategies. Foster an environment that engages all staff while encouraging positive, collaborative, and respectful working relationships.

§  Respond to media inquiries, frequently quoted in national and international media on issues of gendered violence, on platforms including Vice, satellite radio, the Washington Post, and more. Work with internal stakeholders to build positive media coverage of the University.
